UnitingCare Christmas Gift Appeal |
|
It's coming up to Christmas and that means UnitingCare's fantastic gift appeal is once again underway. UnitingCare VicTas Director, Raoul Spackman-Williams, officially launched the appeal on 9 November 2008 in Melbourne.
"The current financial crisis means that this Christmas is going to be tougher than ever for families," said Raoul.
"Last Christmas, UnitingCare was able to provide gifts or gift cards to almost 130,000 people across Australia, including 40,000 people in Victoria. This year, we're calling on the community to share the joy of Christmas by being a secret Santa for someone doing it tough who would otherwise go without."
Since it began in 1992, the UnitingCare Christmas Gift Appeal has distributed more than 1.5 million gifts. This year, the appeal is aiming to donate 150,000 gifts to those in need.
