Dr Rhonda Galbally AO, Chair of the National People with Disabilities and Carer Council for Australia, has called on the Australian Government to work with State and Territory Governments to establish a no fault Disability Insurance Scheme.
UnitingCare Australia’s National Director, Lin Hatfield Dodds said if implemented, the recommendations in the Productivity Commission’s draft report on disability care and support will change lives.
UnitingCare Australia has welcomed the passage of the Government’s historic National Disability Insurance Scheme through the Parliament this week and calls on the states and territories to fund their share of the scheme.
UnitingCare Australia’s National Director, Lin Hatfield Dodds said that next week’s Federal Budget should focus on investing in people and productivity to ensure the future prosperity of the nation.
“The Budget offers an opportunity to invest in our nation’s most valuable resource – its people,” said Ms Hatfield Dodds.
This year's Budget seeks to repair some of the political damage from last year.
"Worthwhile measures include investing in vulnerable children, continued commitment to the NDIS, tightening means testing for the age pension, and the groundwork for further aged care reform," said Lin Hatfield Dodds, National Director of UnitingCare Australia.
