Submission to Senate Community Affairs Committee Inquiry into the Extent of Income Inequality in Australia

UnitingCare Australia welcomes this opportunity to provide a submission to the Senate Community Affairs Reference Committee’s (the Committee) Inquiry into the Extent of Income Inequality in Australia (the Inquiry). We consider that the Inquiry is timely given the concurrent Reference Group on Welfare Reform’s Review of Australia’s Welfare System (the McClure Review) and debate in the Senate about 2014–15 Federal Budget social security measures. UnitingCare Australia welcomes discussion and debate about how to best facilitate the participation of all Australians, including financially disadvantaged Australians, in our society.
